Assignment
Commercial
photography appealed to me because I enjoy taking pictures of people and
setting them up in unique ways to make them stand out and make it look like a
beautiful picture. I would mainly be interested in portrait photography because
I prefer taking pictures of people rather than events, even though I would
enjoy that too.
The pros of
going into commercial photography or attending a school like Cornish of the
Arts is that there are various options
of what it is I can photograph. I can be a photographer for advertisements,
weddings, people and at Cornish they also focus on art, dance, music and I feel
like they would host events that would have really unique beautiful things to
photograph and capture.
Cornish of
the Arts offers a Prominent in Artist Trust Grant to financially assist
students. This past year there were a total of 62 recipients out of 600
applications and they were able to receive up to $1,500 for projects in all
artistic aspects.
The college
program is designed to go up to four years, the number of credits we take is
ones choice. Associate is two years and Bachelors four years.
Average
yearly earnings for commercial photographers is 30,000 with an associate’s
degree needed. Job growth is 12% and it’s stated to be competitive.
One
interesting fact I learned from the college website is that for a school such
as Cornish of the Arts the classes are really all about art and nothing else,
you’re like experimenting and doing things hand on all day rather than studying
.
